Hahoe Village Conservation Society — People Protecting Living Villages
A World Heritage Site guarded by its inhabitants
Hahoe Village is not a museum, but a 'living heritage' where residents still live for generations. The Andongha Hoe Village Conservation Society, an incorporated association, is the central organization of this village, and is responsible for the preservation and transmission of the heritage and the operation of the village, safeguarding the tradition and life of the community for 600 years.
In Andong, the 2026 World Heritage Festival, we lead the entire festival together as an organized organization.
What the Preservation Society is doing
· Conservation and management of Hahoe Village, a World Heritage Site and tradition of living culture
· Visitor information, commentary, and home experience (Hanok Stay)
· Cooperation in the operation of the village manager system with the National Heritage Agency and Andong City
· Succession of village beliefs and rituals such as Samsindang East
· Reproduction and transmission of village traditional play such as Seonyu Bull Festival
Intangible heritage we keep together
The Hahebyeol Shin Gutal Play Preservation Society is an organization that has inherited Hahebyeol Shin Gutal Play, which is the core of the UNESCO Humanity Intangible Cultural Heritage "Korea's Talchum". Through permanent performances and a celebration stage, we continue the yard of Shinmyeong, where everyone is equal under the ride.
